City Champs!
Last week the netballers from
the Froebelian School in Horsforth faced one of their greatest challenges yet by
reaching the final of the Leeds School City High Five Competition.
Having comfortably won through
their two previous rounds, the finals proved to be a different matter
altogether; with last year’s winners, Woodlesford Primary School, back in the
competition battling to regain their title.
Playing with great focus and
determination, the girls played their games extremely well, considering the
unusual novelty that presented itself of playing against teams made up of both
boys as well as girls!
It was the exceptional court
play provided by the Froebelian girls throughout the competition that resulted
in a clean sweep of victories; culminating in the team being crowned the overall
winners of the tournament. They will now go on to represent Leeds in the West
Yorkshire Youth Games in June.
Mrs Algar and Mrs Staniland, the
girls coaches, said - “The team has benefited from a committed and
enthusiastic netball training squad and thoroughly deserves their success this
year. We are very proud to have this fantastic opportunity to represent the
city at county level.”
