Finance and Operations Manager Leeds
The Froebelian School is a co-educational independent day school for pupils aged 3 – 11 years old, offering a high-quality education for up to 190 pupils. The school also operates a day nursery, First Steps at Froebelian, which provides nurturing childcare of the highest quality for early years children aged 3 months to 5 years. The nursery, which is based in separate premises, offers 50 full-time equivalent places, runs 51 weeks a year and is currently in its third year of operation. The school has an outstanding reputation in the West Yorkshire area, together with a proud history of educational achievement. Froebelian School was judged as ‘Excellent’ by the Independent Schools Inspectorate in May 2017 and Froebelian consistently features as the highest placed independent Leeds primary School in The Sunday Times Top 100 Independent Prep Schools Parent Power survey. First Steps at Froebelian Nursery was judged ‘Outstanding’ in its first Ofsted inspection in September 2016. The School and the Nursery both make a consistently healthy profit with an annual turnover exceeding £1million.
The current incumbent is retiring after many successful years with the school and we are now seeking to appoint an individual of proven leadership ability, capable of commanding respect as a member of the senior leadership team. The Finance and Operations Manager will be accountable to the Headteacher and to the Governing Council for the financial and business management of the school and the nursery, with responsibility for finance, Health & Safety, catering, asset management including IT, insurance, legal, compliance, estates (maintenance, grounds, security, housekeeping), School Office and Governance.
A qualified accountant, the successful candidate will be a strategic thinker, with demonstrable professional and leadership skills and the ability to take on the wide operational and hands-on remit for this role. Commercially astute, you will have a track record of leading and developing high- performing teams, the ability to engage effectively with our many varied stakeholders, a keen eye for detail and an unswerving commitment to excellence.
