About Our School

We are a thriving independent school for 190 boys and girls aged 3 to 11 situated in Horsforth, one of the pleasant suburbs of Leeds close to the ringroad and major transport connections.

We aim to provide children with a happy learning environment, one where they are challenged and supported to achieve personal excellence. Each year approximately 24 children aged 3+ are admitted to the Lower Kindergarten (nursery) class. Other places for older children are sometimes available and enquiries are always welcome. We are large enough to offer first-class teaching and facilities but small enough to ensure that every child is part of our extended family.

Our goal of nurturing children to become rounded individuals, fulfilling their full potential is realised through a wide curriculum. Academic success is at the heart of the school and is complemented by plenty of sport, music, art and drama. There is a full programme of extra-curricular activities, including opportunities for outdoor pursuits.

Situated in Horsforth, close to the Leeds ring-road, the school is easily accessible from most areas close to Leeds, Bradford and Harrogate. Our site is very secure with a wooded area offering delightful views over the Aire valley.

*The school is an educational charity where ultimate responsibility rests with a School Council (governors). The day-to-day running of the school is delegated to the Headmaster, supported by a senior management team.

The Incorporated Association of Preparatory Schools (IAPS)
is the leading professional body for independent schools that educate young children. The Headmaster of Froebelian is an active member and was honoured to be elected as Chairman of IAPS for 2009/10. Mr Tranmer currently chairs the finance committee and is a member of the national council. Membership carries important obligations including that of regular, independent inspection approved by Ofsted. http://www.iaps.org.uk/

The Independent Schools Council (ISC)
is an umbrella body representing all the leading independent schools. Nationally, seven per cent of children are educated in independent schools and the ISC provides a collective voice for the schools and has regular contact with the government. http://www.isc.co.uk/

´Small, intimate, family-atmosphere prep school on the northern fringes of the Leeds-Bradford conurbation.´

All in all, a happy and successful school, which turns out well-prepared and confident children ready for local high-reputation day schools, (where they do well).
