Why 3?

“My three-year-old was 100% ready for a teacher-led learning environment and has come on leaps and bounds since September.”

Choosing the best start for your child’s education can be both an emotional and daunting process for parents. Firstly, it’s coming to terms with the fact that your child is no longer a baby; starting school is a significant milestone in their development. Secondly, it’s knowing what key qualities you should be looking for in a school setting. It is natural to want the very best for your child and you will have many questions – we are here to support you in making this important decision.
At The Froebelian School, the best interests of your child are at the heart of everything we do and we are passionate that they feel safe and happy at school each and every day. Our aim is to provide a first-class, holistic education in which both the unique needs of your child are met and their interests and talents can flourish in a caring, structured and secure environment.
A recent investment in our early years provision means your child will enjoy a bespoke and dynamic learning environment where we can support them to develop a life-long love of learning and equip them with solid foundations for their future lives. In our nursery class, we offer teacher-led learning from the age of three. In our experience, children from this age group need more than simple play activities. They need opportunities to think and be curious, to challenge themselves, to collaborate and to take risks. Our staff team has vast experience in early years provision and our structured ‘learning through play’ approach, based on Froebel principles, enables us to nurture your child as an individual.
In addition to a rich curriculum, your child will be able to participate in a wide range of activities such as workshops, themed days, clubs and trips which add breadth and depth to their learning. We also ensure plentiful opportunities to make friendships across all age groups in school which fosters our ‘family-feel’ and will allow your child to be inspired by outstanding, positive role-models in our older classes.
Children in our nursery class attend school five mornings a week which helps them to establish a secure and predictable daily routine. Afternoons are optional and we offer flexibility to meet your childcare needs. We ensure that our wraparound care and holiday clubs throughout the year are consistently supervised by our dedicated team of in-house staff who will build encouraging and trusting relationships with your child.
I always advise prospective families to trust their gut instincts. Parents need to feel that they can entrust their chosen school to nurture and stimulate their child and enable them to maximise their potential during their time with us. We are very proud of our track record that 100% of our FIV (Year 6) children secure places at their first-choice of independent senior school, many of whom have multiple offers of a place and several who attain awards and scholarships.
An independent education may feel out of reach for some families but the reality is that it’s usually not much of a leap from paying full-time nursery fees. Froebelian’s affordable fee levels and flexible package of wraparound care (including childcare throughout the school holidays if required) mean that we are an accessible option for families. Our Finance team will happily model costs on request, based on your anticipated requirements.
So, what are the next steps? We recommend visiting when your child reaches the age of two, if not before. This means that you stand a good chance of securing a place with us for your child to start in the September after they have turned three. Waiting until they are reception age is also a possibility but there is a risk of disappointment if, like this year, our nursery class is full and we have an extensive waiting list.
I warmly invite you to join me for a personal tour of our lovely school so that you may experience at first-hand the excellent care and education that Froebelian can offer for your child.

“This is so much fun! I hope tomorrow is like today.”
